Apple iTV should be a super TiVo.
I don’t think an Apple “iTV” like the rumormill is predicting is a good idea, and if it happens at all, I don’t think it will be what they are expecting.
In case you’re not familiar, what’s being rumored is a big screen HDTV iPad:

Cool idea and all, but this will not...

My Sugar-Free Low Carb Eggnog
I love eggnog and I try to make my own every season. I got this recipe from my friendly neighborhood liquor store and love it. However, this year I am going low-carb. I thought about it an realized eggnog should convert fairly well, and the following is my creation at 7 grams of net carbs per 6 oz cup. Remake Bad.
Io9 just posted an article “Some 1980s and 1990s Movies That Actually Should Be Remade.” No. Seriously. No.
They claim “Everybody knows that remakes are a plague and an abomination,” yet go on “Nobody complained when John Carpenter remade The Thing, after all. …Here are 20 beloved (and not so beloved) films of a quarter-century ago that actually should be...
DLNA Fail, AirPlay to the Rescue.
My nice Samsung “smart” tv is connected to my network and the web via DLNA, the rarely-heard-of device networking protocol that has been around for 8 years. It’s a cool project aimed at effortlessly networking computers and other computing devices (routers, tvs, stereos, mobiles, tablets, etc.) so everything can communicate and share data on your home network.

"Ancient Aliens" and Speciousness
spe·cious

–adjective
1. apparently good or right though lacking real merit; superficially pleasing or plausible: specious arguments.
I love the word specious. It is perhaps my favorite word in the vocabulary of philosophy. I also have a particular fondness for false, but specious has an academic air that I like.
I also have a terrible weakness for the History...

Computer Security Sucks (Except Microsoft's)
Today Colorado University issued a computer security alert warning of a fake antivirus threat. Their solution is the correct but untenable “don’t download anything you’re not sure is safe” and to install an IT approved antivirus solution.

The Livingston Perfect Manhattan
My new vogue cocktail is the Manhattan. I’m a big scotch, rye, and bourbon whisk(e)y fan, yet I’ve previously never really gotten into the Manhattan, one of the most classic whiskey cocktails. I think my trial-and-error amateur mixology yielded a few less-than-optimal results which kind of turned me off the drink. However, my interest was revived by a professional.
In Las vegas this...
