Ultimate Star Wars Fan Phone: Motorola Droid R2-D2 →
For $200 (or considerably lower) you can buy the Motorola Droid 2. And for $249 you can buy the Motorola Droid R2-D2.
In one of the all-time great examples of taking a pun to its logical conclusion, Verizon is releasing a special Star Wars-themed edition of its next major smartphone release. The theming covers both hardware and software.
My new Logitech trackball →
For several years I’ve had a bad-ass Logitech MX Revolution mouse, with which I have been almost 100% happy. However, recently buttons have started to stick (I get inadvertent double-clicks all the time), and with my new setup of the computer in the living room for easy direct HDMI out to the tv I find a lot of interference. With 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, a laptop, 2 wireless mice, a cordless...

Virtual worlds and beings are becoming radically more sophisticated, and artificial systems are already threatening to pass the Turing Test.
At the cool website A Long Bet software engineer Mitchell Kapor argues “By 2029 no computer - or “machine intelligence” - will have passed the Turing Test.”
Along with world-renowned challenger Ray Kurzweil, I disagree. Computer systems are...

What is NBC's 'The Event'? →
Just watched The Event. Took 55 minutes to get there, but eventually it showed it has something to tell a story about. All the action, suspense, intrigue, drama, etc doesn’t mean anything until we know what it’s about, and they way it was built up and hyped it better be about something huge.

The Top 10 New Cult Movies →
So Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang makes both a top 10 cult movie list and a top 10 underrated films of the decade list?

Primer sounds very cool too.
*”Aquired” in 13 minutes* (Very popular in certain crowds, apparently)
Dunno if Donnie Darko qualifies as a “new” cult movie. It’s been big in cult circles since it’s release.

Multitask! The Bruce Campbell Way →
I get criticized for my single-tasking: focusing intently on one activity for maximum productivity, to the exclusion of all else.
I’m told to work on my multitasking and ability to handle multiple activities at the same time, both at work and at home. Occasionally I try, and I find my productivity, and specifically the quality of my productivity, plummets. Wondering if I am somehow...

Talking Philosophy blog contributor Mike LaBossiere has shared his book “42 Fallacies” for free in PDF. It’s a cool read of very common logical fallacies people use all the time.

Apple TV 2010 →
Dude, this is cool. And for $99? I think this will truly revolutionize the Apple TV, and the set-top media box in general.
I run my PC direct to my HDTV via HDMI, so there isn’t anything this device does I can’t do already, but as usual Apple makes it slick and sexy, and I want it.
Newegg Shopping Helper helpful but a touch creepy.
Got this email from Newegg. Targeted ads are pretty normal, and I actually kind of like them, but I’ve never been compelled to click through a link.
This one was extra personal, sent in response to a wireless adapter left unpurchased in my Newegg shopping cart.
I think this is pretty cool, though is creeped me out a little bit when I first got it. This is an ad that I actually don’t...

Three of my favorites that I hear all the time and hate:
Chipotle It’s a pepper, it’s a mayonnaise flavoring, it’s a restaurant chain beloved by both soccer moms and MMORPG players alike. And it’s NOT pronounced “chip-ole-tee.” It’s chee-POHT-lay.
